Second phase of movie 'Jun-Kiri' started in Gorkha

The second phase of the film “Jun-Kiri”, which is based on the Ghantu tradition of the Gurung community, has begun shooting in Gorkha.

The second phase of the film is currently being shot at Nath Mandali in Siranchowk, Gorkha. The team, which went on the floor from Asoj 15 last year, had completed the first phase of work before Dashain.

The film’s writer and actor Suraj Tamu informed that the second phase of the film will be completed by 15th Mangsir.

Directed by Dip Gurung, the film has a story written by Suraj Tamu and Bharat Rai and a screenplay by Ker Koinch Linuch.

Actress Laxmi Gurung is playing the lead role along with Suraj in the film. Suraj has also acted in films including ‘Wool Sweater’, ‘Gorkha Warrior’, ‘Angela’, ‘Saranga’, and ‘Naina’.

Active in theatre for a decade, Suraj has directed plays including ‘School’ and ‘Chalishe Bhir’. She has acted in about 2 dozen plays including ‘Dayamaya Aapmatara Likhapani Aipugi’, ‘Hario Dhunga’, ‘Mimamsha’, ‘Yogamaya’, ‘Kora’, ‘Arko Artha Naleme’, ‘Byunjiyeko Sirani’, ‘Chorko Swar’.

This is Laxmi’s second film. Earlier, she had acted in the lead role in the film ‘Naina’. She has worked in dozens of music videos including ‘Miley’, ‘UK London’.

Along with Suraj and Laxmi, actors DB Gurung, Anil Subba, and Kavita Ale are also playing important roles.

Similarly, the film features actors Pratina Rai, Prabin Magar, Sushmita Gurung, Maya Gurung, Saujan Senhyang, and Samarpan Srilagay.

This is the second film of director Dip Gurung. He had earlier directed the film ‘Naina’. He has choreographed and directed 500+ of cultural music videos and also known as the “Cultural King” among the cultural music industry.

The film focuses on the journey and experiences of a struggling photographer in Kathmandu. The production team believes that the events that occur and the relationships they meet while taking pictures of Ghatu, who has long been dancing on the Gurungs, will make the story interesting.

The film is being shot by cinematographer Yogesh Dahal.
